Welcome to the SRC of NAFTI
Who are We?
The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) is abbreviated as NSRC to stand for NAFTI SRC, it was formed with the aim to protect and safeguard the rights and interests of the students, and to seek academic, social and the general welfare of all students in this honorable institution. It offers a common platform for the discussion of issues and problems, coordination of student activities, gathering of student opinions on local, national and international matters, and to finally inculcate into students a spirit of solidarity and patriotism.
NAFTI does undertake numerous activities on campus and here are a few:
- Akwaaba Weekend
- SRC Week
- Face of NAFTI
- NAFTI Students’ Film Festival
Akwaaba weekend is celebrated to welcome first year students.
The week-long event is aimed at providing an avenue for students to come together and engage in activities including sports, film workshop with industry personnel, film screening, fun trip, outreach programs among others.
Face of NAFTI
Face of NAFTI (FON) is an annual event which aims at harnessing the art of Film making amongst NAFTI ladies in a male dominated industry. FON allows the ladies to select their crew and work around a theme. The director that comes top is then adjudged the FACE OF NAFTI.
NAFTI Students’ Film Festival
The NAFTI Students’ Film Festival (NSFF) is a biannual festival organized by the SRC to award outstanding final year school productions. The festival which spans across a week, screens both in competition and off competition films to NAFTI students and the general public and allow the filmmakers to share their experience with the audience. It is mostly climaxed with an awards ceremony to honor deserving films.
Weekly or Fortnight Film Reviews/Screening with accomplished filmmakers
We invite filmmakers to review their films for intensive discussions on them as technical people to boost students expertise and also, to share the experience of already accomplished filmmakers.
The NSRC lobbies for jobs from other institutes/universities for students to execute. This helps to ease their financial burden on campus. NAFTI students do not charge as high as others professionals outside and yet deliver even more professionally.
We invite theatre companies to give us live performances once in a while. We try to make sure students actors from NAFTI participate if possible.
End of Semester Drink up/Jams
Per the choice of the NSRC executives, the SRC decides the semesters we hold our end of semester parties/Drink ups/Jams
Other activities may come as planned by the NSRC executives.
NB: NAFTI is pretty much academically vibrant so the fun/ events are to strictly to ease pressure
